<\/a>The Minister of Transport has disclosed to Citi Business News that the design for the construction of the third terminal at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) is currently in progress.<\/p>\nPlans for the project first came to light during the President John Mahama\u2019s state of the nation address recently.<\/p>\n
The third terminal at the KIA when completed will reduce traffic at the existing two terminals.<\/p>\n
Terminal 1 is used by domestic operators and some regional operators while terminal 2 is used for international arrivals and departures.<\/p>\n
Sector Minsiter, Dzifa Ativor tells Citi Business News<\/b> design plans will soon be submitted to the Ghana Airport Company for approval after which its construction will commence by the middle of the year.<\/p>\n
\u2018The design is being worked on, it will be submitted to Ghana Airport Company and the final decision will have to be taken on whether it is acceptable or not.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dzifa Ativor expressed hope that \u201cbefore the middle of this year, we should be able to start some work, when they submit the design they will give us the costing and the timelines of construction.\u2019 She said.<\/p>\n
