{"id":71409,"date":"2014-12-05T06:06:58","date_gmt":"2014-12-05T06:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=71409"},"modified":"2014-12-05T06:08:06","modified_gmt":"2014-12-05T06:08:06","slug":"pwc-oversee-gnpcs-takeover-ghana-gas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/12\/pwc-oversee-gnpcs-takeover-ghana-gas\/","title":{"rendered":"PWC to oversee GNPC&#8217;s takeover of Ghana Gas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Ghana has been appointed as the transaction advisor to help in the transfer of government\u2019s interest in the Ghana National Gas Company to Ghana National Petroloeum Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>This was announced by the Finance Ministry in a statement signed by the Minister, Seth Terkper.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;klbkSdtu7ou5B76m3t1MJ6GIEqc3KR4X&#8221;]The Minister had hinted of this move earlier when he presented the 2015 budget statement to Parliament in November.<\/p>\n<p>According to Seth Terkper, the move will \u201cconsolidate the upstream and midstream gas subsector under a single institution to ensure efficiency, increased value creation and sustainable national development outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PricewaterhouseCoopers will also \u201cassist GNPC with the successful and effective integration of GNGC. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>When the deal is finally completed,\u00a0Ghana gas will run as a subsidiary of GNPC.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining the rational behind the decision to Parliament, the Finance Minister said this &#8220;will make it possible to ease the conditions that investors impose for the national gas aggregator and start financing projects in the oil and gas enclave immediately&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Energy think-tank, the African Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) has welcomed the announcement of the takeover.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an earlier interview with <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>, Director of Research and Evidence at ACEP, John Peter Amewu said a separate and independent gas company should not have been established in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Nana Boakye-Yiadom\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Ghana has been appointed as the transaction advisor to help in the transfer of government\u2019s interest in the Ghana National Gas Company to Ghana National Petroloeum Corporation.
