{"id":70549,"date":"2014-12-02T11:59:59","date_gmt":"2014-12-02T11:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=70549"},"modified":"2014-12-02T12:33:28","modified_gmt":"2014-12-02T12:33:28","slug":"telecom-tariffs-go-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/12\/telecom-tariffs-go-50\/","title":{"rendered":"Telecom tariffs to go up by 50%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mobile phone users are likely to pay more on the calls they make from next year as the telecom companies prepare to pay about 50% more for \u00a0interconnection charges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This may affect tariffs paid by consumers as the GHp4 per minute charge will increase to about GHp60 because of the new interconnection charges arrangement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was announced by the Principal Manager\/Head of Licensing, Regulatory Administration at the National Communications Authority (NCA), Mr Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor in a forum in Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Customers of the various telecom operators have accused them of\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/04\/04\/consumer-groups-attack-telcos\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>providing poor services<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;fsCK4IbJCZneDm2P8g55bWuDBhHiVUEc&#8221;]Mr Baah-Acheamfour disclosed that an interconnect clearing house will also be established to champion the interconnection charge move.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Baah-Acheamfuor explained that the clearing house will take care of issues relating to the auditing of the charges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe will make Ghana\u2019s clearing house more unique just as we did with the mobile number portability (MNP) and other systems introduced to make the sector better,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, various speakers at the forum was displeased about the tariff increment citing the additional cost that comes with the move.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com (With files from Graphic)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile phone users are likely to pay more on the calls they make from next year as the telecom companies prepare to pay about 50% more for \u00a0interconnection charges.
