The Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, December 5 a statutory public holiday.<\/p>\n

The holiday has been declared to celebrate the 2014 National Farmers’ Day.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”7MELdJ4TacZCLWjwVXi0Tr49X3jwcGpC”]This was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Interior Minister, James Agalga on behalf of the substantive Minister, Mark Owen Woyongo.<\/p>\n

The Ministry has therefore urged the general public to observe the day as such.<\/p>\n

The 30th National Farmers\u2019 Day celebration will be under the theme: \u201cEat what you grow.\u201d<\/p>\n

The National Farmers Day celebration was established by the\u00a0Ministry of Food and Agriculture to honour the nation\u2019s hard working\u00a0farmers.<\/p>\n

On the first Friday of every December, farmers who excel in their respect fields are awarded with certificates and other prizes.<\/p>\n

In 2013, 58-year-old Alhaji Awudu Karim from the Kasena Nankana District of the Upper East region was adjudged the National Best Farmer.<\/p>\n
