The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, has appealed to the youth, especially students, to use social media responsibly to enhance their knowledge on current developments around the world.<\/p>\n
She said available research indicates that more and more students are using the internet to watch pornographic materials which exposes them to sexual abuses, alcoholism among other vices.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Lithur said this during an interaction with students of the Fijai Senior High School and the Shama Methodist Junior High schools as part of a tour of some institutions in the Western Region.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”3v0Mh73arr5vDt3DtQq6QFCuKqoUqV1L”]She said reproductive health and drug abuse were critical issues to the government since it hampered the socio-economic lifestyle of the people.<\/p>\n
The Minister said the government would continue to create the enabling environment for the youth to excel adding, \u201cyou as students have to study hard to take our place in the near future\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ocloo Nyamade, the Headmaster of Fijai Senior High School, said the school needed a sick bay, fence wall and a canteen.<\/p>\n
The Minister also visited the Youth Correctional Home at Essipon where she promised setting up a computer laboratory for the vocational institute.<\/p>\n
She donated school bags, blanket, bed sheets, sponge and other personal items to the children.<\/p>\n
The Methodist School children at Shama also received a similar donation.<\/p>\n
