President John Mahama has inaugurated the John Evan Atta Mills Centre for Law and Governance at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra.<\/p>\n

This was done to honor the late Ghanaian President who passed on in 2012.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”JVevlVdDNOXtV7mB8Cw2gOMSQiQ3Ch0Y”]The ceremony was attended by the visiting Togolese President, Faure Gnassingbe, wife of the late President, Ernestina Naadu Mills and some government officials.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering at the ceremony, President Mahama indicated that the centre is a testament to the enduring legacy of the late President and his contribution to public service and rule of law.<\/p>\n

He expressed his appreciation to the management and council of GIMPA for honouring the late Professor John Mills.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy naming this new center as the Atta Mills Center for Law and Governance, we are building on a host of other awards and recognitions that our late President has deserved and earned,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

According to the President, the many awards which are being given in honour of the late Prof. Mills is an acknowledgment of \u201chis gentile disposition, his devotion and commitment to good governance, democracy and his upholding of the independence of the judiciary.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a reflection of that rich heritage bestowed upon this nation by the life and character of Atta Mills,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
