{"id":68960,"date":"2014-11-26T20:21:53","date_gmt":"2014-11-26T20:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=68960"},"modified":"2014-11-26T21:19:35","modified_gmt":"2014-11-26T21:19:35","slug":"cocaine-saga-minoritys-claims-redundant-ofosu-kwakye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/11\/cocaine-saga-minoritys-claims-redundant-ofosu-kwakye\/","title":{"rendered":"Cocaine saga: Minority\u2019s claims redundant \u2013 Kwakye Ofosu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described as redundant, questions being raised by \u00a0the Minority in Parliament over the controversial Nayele Ametefeh cocaine saga.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minority <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/26\/cocaine-saga-minority-to-reveal-more\/\" target=\"_blank\">at a press conference<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>on Wednesday among other things, called for the establishment of \u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/26\/minority-demands-bi-partisan-investigations-into-cocaine-saga\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a bi-partisan Parliamentary Committee<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333333;\">to investigate circumstances leading to the cocaine bust in the UK.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This follows the arrest of a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/16\/ghanaian-woman-busted-for-carrying-cocaine\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ghanaian woman was busted at the Heathrow Airport<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0early this month for possessing 12kg of cocaine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She subsequently told officials of Ghana\u2019s Mission in the UK that <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/25\/cocaine-woman-thought-she-was-carrying-gold-hannah-tetteh\/\" target=\"_blank\">she though the substance given to her by an unknown person was gold<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;uJ2bqsrrGvYemUISTRQWbzUaUZ44vR8J&#8221;]Preliminary investigations by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) revealed that the woman; Ruby Adu Gyamfi alias Nayele Ametefeh used the VVIP lounge of the Kotoka International Airport in Accra to embark on the journey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So far, about 12 persons have been arrested in connection with the issue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Briefing the press on Wednesday however, the Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu stated that \u201cthe unfolding event in the VVIP cocaine saga and the responses from the key government operatives including the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs call for intervention of Parliament.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Responding to the Minority&#8217;s call on the <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, the Deputy Communications Minister argued that answers to the questions the Minority raised were already in the public domain adding that, \u201cmany of the questions that they raised today were redundant because answers exist for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhy do you hold a press conference and ask questions whose answers you know already except that you want to infuse wrongdoings where none exists. In my view, the questions they raised are not begging for answers. Answers exist and has been in the public for some time now,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kwakye Ofosu \u00a0intimated that \u201cit is astonishing that the Minority will claim that they are unaware of the capacity in which the officers of the Ghana High Commission spoke to the person in question.
