The National Blood Service has assured Ghanaians it had put adequate measures in place to ensure there is enough blood in the national blood bank ahead of the yuletide.<\/p>\n
This was revealed by the Head of the Southern Blood Bank, Dr Paul Mensah at the launch of the 2015 National Blood Donor Day in Accra.<\/p>\n
He said the blood bank would embark on a national blood donation drive to stockpile blood ahead of the festive season.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”U0EVrjBiXKp3QYyPp5anoJfEMHEb3Ul3″]Speaking to Citi News<\/strong> after the launch, Dr Paul Mensah, said \u201cif we ensure that we have enough blood we also need to appeal to people to celebrate the festivities wisely because a major group of people that require blood are accident victims.\u201d<\/p>\n Statistics over the years have revealed that there is usually pressure on the blood bank during Christmas because of increased number of accidents on the roads.<\/p>\n He appealed to drivers to be careful and abide by the roads safety rules to prevent accidents.<\/p>\n The\u00a0National Blood Donor Day exercise according to Dr Mensah will start on December 5, in both Accra and Tema.<\/p>\n
