The Speaker in Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho was compelled to suspend Tuesday\u2019s Parliamentary sitting due to a heated debate among Members of Parliament (MPs) over the cocaine scandal involving Nayele Ametefeh.<\/p>\n

According to Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Parliamentary correspondent, Richard Dela Sky, the Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul\u2019s decision to storm the House with small bags of rice to make a point about the cocaine scandal sparked intense debate among MPs.<\/p>\n

Richard Sky stated that the Majority members in Parliament were angered by Nitiwul’s attempt to drag government into the cocaine saga.<\/p>\n

The argument went out of hand, forcing the Speaker to take a decision to suspend the sitting.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”Q1GtQ7LSTxqMOgSiF1lzmoq6GEcBSHxV”]Nayele Ametefeh was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom(UK)<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>after about 12kg of cocaine was found in her hand luggage.<\/p>\n

Reports said she traveled using a Ghanaian diplomatic passport and had access to the VVIP lounge at the Kotoka International airport.<\/p>\n

While government has denied that Ametefeh used a diplomatic passport, President John Dramani Mahama has also dissolved the governing board of Narcotic Control Board (NACOB).<\/p>\n

A Deputy Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>Abiel Ashitey Armah and two others; Theophilus Kissi of the Research Department attached to the VVIP Lounge at the Kotoka International Airport and one Abubakar Ahmed have been invited by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for questioning.<\/p>\n

The Acting Director of Passports Alexander Ntrakwa\u00a0has also been questioned over the matter.<\/p>\n

In the latest twist to the ongoing saga, the Minister of Communications Dr. Omane Boamah has challenged the UK authorities to divulge any information in relation to whether Nayele Ametefe indeed had a diplomatic passport on her at the time of her arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet the British High Commission stand up and be counted\u2026 did she travel to Britain on a diplomatic passport or did she have a diplomatic passport in her possession?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
