A former Chief of Staff under the Kufour Administration, Kojo Mpiani has insisted that the current Nayele Ametefe cocaine scandal should not be politicized.

According to him, it is wrong for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to tag the Mahama administration with a cocaine label though the National Democratic Congress (NDC) did the same thing to them during Kufour’s regime.

Nayele Ametefeh was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London for attempting to enter the country with 12.5 kilograms of cocaine.

[contextly_sidebar id=”jsSzfrnYkLMpV3Ud4ydn2zTY4pYqZMZ2″]The issue has not being spared the usual politicization with a former campaign manager of the NPP Boakye Agyarko insisting that the party will use it against the current Government.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Mr. Mpiani advised Ghanaians to dispassionately seek solutions to the drug menace.

“The drug menace is to be taken on a national basis, it’s a problem for the nation but if you want to push it on a government because it happened at the time somebody is in office then you lose sight of the whole problem and it’s a very serious problem,” he explained.

He said, “I hear them on radio trying to put it on president Mahama…They are doing this thing because of what these same people did when president Kufour was the president of the country and we had some of these drug issues.”
