A former Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Dr. Wereko-Brobby has advised management of the Aboadze Thermal Plant to gradually introduce the gas into the facility to avoid any technical hitches.

Ghana’s power sector has major challenges especially because of huge generation problems.

[contextly_sidebar id=”g38XASIzjQX8ExaG5MH74mQvc71VLW8J”]The Aboadze Thermal Plant which will receive its first gas from Atuabo Gas Processing Plant is expected to add about 330 megawatts of power to the national electricity grid.

This follows after two weeks of testing the plant.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Dr. Wereko-Brobby said, “It’s extremely important. I just hope we do not rush the Aboadze thing; it’s a fantastic thing that we are able to give gas.”

He further observed that “theoretically, Takoradi I think can have as much a 1,000 megawatts of capacity if it’s all working so it is a major boost and eventually may give us a lot more option but again we shouldn’t look to it as the end of the matter.”
