{"id":67655,"date":"2014-11-22T18:55:11","date_gmt":"2014-11-22T18:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=67655"},"modified":"2014-11-22T19:16:18","modified_gmt":"2014-11-22T19:16:18","slug":"cocaine-saga-govt-dares-uk-to-speak-on-diplomatic-passport-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/11\/cocaine-saga-govt-dares-uk-to-speak-on-diplomatic-passport-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"Cocaine saga: Gov&#8217;t dares UK to speak on diplomatic passport claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government has challenged the UK authorities to disclose whether indeed the Ghanaian woman busted with cocaine at Heathrow airport, had a diplomatic passport in her possession.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah said this on an Accra based Radio Gold on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet the British High Commission stand up and be counted\u2026 did she travel to Britain on a diplomatic passport or did she have a diplomatic passport in her possession?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;3Yfp0jLRGRe4sFuN6yz1P3qdN9M9SJqz&#8221;]On Friday, the UK High Commission in a statement denied <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/21\/we-didnt-collaborate-with-nacob-uk-authorities\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>claims by Ghana\u2019s Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) that it helped the UK security agencies<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in the arrest of Nayele Ametefe, also known Ruby Adu Gyamfi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny potential drug trafficker to the UK from Ghana is arrested here in Ghana and not permitted to board a flight in order to traffic drugs,\u201d the statement clarified.<\/p>\n<p>It further stated that UK authorities had no prior knowledge of the \u201cintentions of Ms. Nayele Ametefeh before flying from Accra to London on 9\/10 November,\u201d but fell short of making any categorical statement whether the lady had a diplomatic passport.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Omane Boamah in response said: \u201cWhy the British High Commission failed or refused to comment on whether the lady was arrested with a diplomatic passport in hand, I cannot understand\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026if they didn\u2019t speak, it [would have been] a different ball game altogether, they have spoken, they should stand up and be counted\u2026,\u201d he shouted repeatedly on the station.<\/p>\n<p>The British High Commission in their statement on Friday explained that Ms. Ametefeh\u2019s case is an ongoing Police investigation and as such the Commission will not be commenting on the details.<\/p>\n<p>The woman is expected back in a UK court on November 27 over the cocaine matter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Nana Boakye-Yiadom\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government has challenged the UK authorities to disclose whether indeed the Ghanaian woman busted with cocaine at Heathrow airport, had a diplomatic passport in her possession.
