{"id":66892,"date":"2014-11-20T12:53:55","date_gmt":"2014-11-20T12:53:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=66892"},"modified":"2014-11-20T13:02:20","modified_gmt":"2014-11-20T13:02:20","slug":"woyome-case-court-sets-dec-12-for-judgment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/11\/woyome-case-court-sets-dec-12-for-judgment\/","title":{"rendered":"Woyome case: Court sets Dec 12 for judgment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Fast Track High Court hearing the trial of embattled businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has adjourned proceedings to December 12, for judgement on the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The court officially ended its proceedings on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;OPPtFrNoDEDPSRWjnxR4lVywBCrC5k6a&#8221;]Mr Osafo Buabeng, lawyer for Mr Woyome told the court presided over by Mr Justice Ajet-Nasam that there would be no re-examination of his client.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Woyome is standing trial <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/05\/05\/i-deserved-ghc-51m-judgment-debt-woyome\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>for defrauding by false pretenses and causing financial loss to the state<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is on a GH\u20b5 20 million bail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Ajet-Nasam, therefore asked the parties involved in the case to apply for the proceedings and also file their addresses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The judge said, he would give the parties some time to access the court proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court on July 29, unanimously <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/07\/29\/supreme-court-orders-woyome-to-refund-gh%C8%BC51-2m\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ordered Alfred Agbesi Woyome to refund Ghc 51.2 million<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy a unanimous decision of this court, the application for review succeeds and is hereby granted\u201d an order by the Supreme Court stated.<\/p>\n<p>The the court therefore ordered that the \u201c3rd Respondent [Alfred Agbesi Woyome] herein to refund to the Republic of Ghana all sums of money paid to him upon or as a result of the unconstitutional conduct of the 1st Respondent [The Attorney General], therein 1st Defendant in purported pursuance of the said inoperative Agreements dated 26th APril 2006.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, four months after the ruling, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/08\/12\/a-g-chases-woyome-gh%E2%82%B551-million\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>the Attorney-General\u2019s Department yet to retrieve the money<\/strong><\/a><\/span> from Woyome.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Fast Track High Court hearing the trial of embattled businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has adjourned proceedings to December 12, for judgement on the matter.
