Angry staff of the\u00a0Graphic Communications Group Limited are expected to lay down their tools in solidarity with their sacked colleague Daniel Kenu.<\/p>\n
Daniel Kenu was dismissed by his employers<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on Wednesday November 19, 2014 following recommendations from a committee that was set up to look into his conduct, after he unilaterally took a decision to abandon a court case against Baffour Gyan for assault.<\/p>\n Graphic said Kenu was sacked for\u00a0\u201cgross misconduct and disloyalty under section 22(a) of collective bargaining agreement\u201d between him and the company.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”SM3MmZjo7KHdpLEymd3ZwzB3Gw9ztjEu”]But the workers are disputing that the committee recommended Kenu’s sack, claiming that it recommended that Daniel Kenu be suspended for a month and apologize to the company at a staff forum.<\/p>\n A source within the workers’ union at Daily Graphic told citifmonline.com that the staff, especially the editorial staff are willing to lay down their tools to compel management to reinstate Daniel Kenu.<\/p>\n The workers in the coming days may call for the dismissal of Kenneth Ashigbey, the Managing Director (MD) of the company, whom they accuse of\u00a0masterminding the dismissal of Daniel Kenu.<\/p>\n The internal rift within the company is likely to affect the operations of the company which produces the most subscribed newspaper in Ghana, the Daily Graphic.<\/p>\n Daniel Kenu has also accused the MD, Ken Ashigbey \u00a0of influencing his dismissal<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n
