{"id":66711,"date":"2014-11-20T05:30:33","date_gmt":"2014-11-20T05:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=66711"},"modified":"2014-11-20T06:52:40","modified_gmt":"2014-11-20T06:52:40","slug":"graphic-staff-plan-solidarity-strike-over-kenus-dismissal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/11\/graphic-staff-plan-solidarity-strike-over-kenus-dismissal\/","title":{"rendered":"Graphic staff plan solidarity strike over Kenu\u2019s dismissal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angry staff of the\u00a0Graphic Communications Group Limited are expected to lay down their tools in solidarity with their sacked colleague Daniel Kenu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/19\/graphic-fires-daniel-kenu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Kenu was dismissed by his employers<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on Wednesday November 19, 2014 following recommendations from a committee that was set up to look into his conduct, after he unilaterally took a decision to abandon a court case against Baffour Gyan for assault.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Graphic said Kenu was sacked for\u00a0\u201cgross misconduct and disloyalty under section 22(a) of collective bargaining agreement\u201d between him and the company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;SM3MmZjo7KHdpLEymd3ZwzB3Gw9ztjEu&#8221;]But the workers are disputing that the committee recommended Kenu&#8217;s sack, claiming that it recommended that Daniel Kenu be suspended for a month and apologize to the company at a staff forum.<\/p>\n<p>A source within the workers&#8217; union at Daily Graphic told citifmonline.com that the staff, especially the editorial staff are willing to lay down their tools to compel management to reinstate Daniel Kenu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workers in the coming days may call for the dismissal of Kenneth Ashigbey, the Managing Director (MD) of the company, whom they accuse of\u00a0masterminding the dismissal of Daniel Kenu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The internal rift within the company is likely to affect the operations of the company which produces the most subscribed newspaper in Ghana, the Daily Graphic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Daniel Kenu has also accused the MD, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/19\/kenu-accuses-graphic-md-of-influencing-his-sack\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ken Ashigbey \u00a0of influencing his dismissal<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_50314\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-50314\" style=\"width: 530px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/kenu_baffour_gyan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-50314\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/kenu_baffour_gyan.jpg\" alt=\"Mr Daniel Kenu (left) and Mr Baffuor Gyan exchanging pleasantries \" width=\"530\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/kenu_baffour_gyan.jpg 530w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/kenu_baffour_gyan-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-50314\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr Daniel Kenu (left) and Mr Baffuor Gyan exchanging pleasantries<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He insisted that \u201cIt is the MD who just wants me out.
