Government has resolved to remove import duties on smartphones as part of measures to bridge the digital divide in the country, the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper has announced.<\/p>\n
Dealers in this business had called on government to reverse the 20% percent import tax it placed on mobile phone handsets .<\/p>\n
In October some importers of mobile phones and accessories presented a petition to the Finance Ministry, citing the negative impact the taxes were having on their business.<\/p>\n
