{"id":66165,"date":"2014-11-18T14:30:17","date_gmt":"2014-11-18T14:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=66165"},"modified":"2014-11-18T17:12:02","modified_gmt":"2014-11-18T17:12:02","slug":"court-adjourns-labour-union-case-november-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/11\/court-adjourns-labour-union-case-november-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Court adjourns labour union case to November 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Industrial and Labour Court\u00a0 presided over by Justice Saeed Kweku Gyan has adjourned the case against the twelve labour unions to Monday November 24, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Government filed a case against the various labour unions, praying the court to among others,rule on the rightful trustee responsible for managing the tier two pension\u2019s funds of public workers.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;FGcSeDc9qQkaA5SYANDegAUKI8TttmR8&#8243;]Government is also asking the court to order the labour unions \u00a0to compensate it for losses during the period the unions laid down their tools.<\/p>\n<p>Twelve Labour Unions embarked on indefinite strike on Wednesday 22, October, 2014 to protest the non-payment of pension funds into a privately managed account.<\/p>\n<p>Labour\u2019s strike over the non-payment of pension funds, compelled\u00a0 government to resort to the court to <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/24\/labour-pushes-govt-to-court-over-pension-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>seek interpretation of the Pensions Act.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Citi News the Deputy Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine said the case was adjourned because the defendants delayed in presenting the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the case was adjourned to give the plaintiff more time to study the affidavit filed by the defendants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026The judge took the view that the case could not come on because of late service of the affidavit so basically we are being given time to respond to whatever has been deposed in that affidavit \u2026\u201dhe said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Industrial and Labour Court\u00a0 presided over by Justice Saeed Kweku Gyan has adjourned the case against the twelve labour unions to Monday November 24, 2014.
