Meanwhile, a former Minister of Women and Children\u2019s Affairs, Hajia Alima Mahama has described as offensive, suggestions by the Daboya MP.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think he is even aware of what is happening in Ghana. He is in coma, he is in a deep sleep. He should wake up.Ghanaian women are progressing and there is no turning back so I\u2019m surprised that supposedly an hounrable man can get up\u00a0 on the floor of Parliament and make such a statement\u2026Things have changed in Ghana and he should be told clearly\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Another Women\u2019s Rights Activist, Mercy Adjabeng said the MP’s proposal contravenes the Constitution.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Adjabeng\u00a0 emphasized the need for the “leadership of Parliament to bring the attention of the lawmaker to the fact that his proposals are in contravention with the constitution\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government must react to the statement by assuaging the fears of women…,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
