Activities marking the second anniversary of the former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama have begun in Tamale with a special Quranic recital.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended the event which was held at the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama\u2019s private residence at Kalpohin estate where he was laid to rest.<\/p>\n
Former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama was extolled for his campaign against indiscipline in society.<\/p>\n
His son, Farouk Aliu Mahama in an interview with Citi News<\/strong> reaffirmed the family\u2019s commitment to keep up the former Vice President\u2019s footprint.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”CCqm264REKOmU4Hqc1E3crwFMRO8wuNS”]Farouk Aliu Mahama gave a narrative of how his late father established the Aliu Mahama Foundation to help the destitute in society.<\/p>\n \u201cAliu Mahama Foundation was set up by the former Vice President before his demise and we have being doing a whole lot of work in terms of education, in terms of building Mosques, in terms of educating people on how to have greater discipline which will impact on the lives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He reiterated the Foundation\u2019s endeavor to partner with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to keep Ghana clean.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are still working and collaborating with government agencies to see what we can do to propagate the legacies of the old man: the only clich\u00e9 we can use to remember the old man is to do the right thing that is discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n According to him, the \u201cman of discipline is no more but the discipline still remains in us and we are still fighting on to have it sustained in our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n Farouk Aliu Mahama disclosed the family\u2019s intention to make donations to some orphanages in Tamale.<\/p>\n He said the anniversary will be climaxed with a public lecture in Accra on December 11, 2014 at the Accra International Conference Centre.<\/p>\n The lecture will be on the theme, \u201cUniting Ghana: one Ghana and nurturing the youth to greater discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n On the bill as the Guest Speaker will be the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential candidate, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n The Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Activities marking the second anniversary of the former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama have begun in Tamale with a special Quranic recital.
