{"id":65372,"date":"2014-11-16T05:45:24","date_gmt":"2014-11-16T05:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=65372"},"modified":"2014-11-15T20:35:52","modified_gmt":"2014-11-15T20:35:52","slug":"stop-undermining-gnpcs-credibility-ayariga-warns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/11\/stop-undermining-gnpcs-credibility-ayariga-warns\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop undermining GNPC&#8217;s credibility &#8211; Ayariga warns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga has expressed concerns that the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) could lose or pay higher interest on the $700 million loan facility it is seeking due to allegations of sidestepping Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Deutshe Bank of Germany is likely to reconsider its decision to approve the loan because they will \u201cbegin to feel that maybe they are engaging in unnecessary risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;PC1zocU8toMd45E5moBk8z56IguckPkj&#8221;]Legal practitioner Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/06\/stop-gnpc-from-illegally-securing-loan-gabby-to-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>revealed attempts by the GNPC<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0to secure the loan facility without Parliamentary approval which he said was illegal.<\/p>\n<p>He further alleged that the Corporation was acquiring the loan on behalf of government without Parliamentary scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>But the Chief Executive of the GNPC, Alex Mould in an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/11\/700m-loan-not-for-govt-gnpc-insists\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>interview with Citi News rejected the claims.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He clarified that the loan was not for government but it will be used to support its increasing oil and gas infrastructural investment.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Joy FM, Mr. Ayariga stated that the various allegations and media discussions on the $700 million loan is undermining the GNPC\u2019s credibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t do anything that will undermine the institution because this kind of discussion can sometimes even scare the lender or even increase the cost of the money.
