Graduates of tertiary institutions have been urged not to just walk out of school with their degrees and certificates but exhibit their talents and impact on society, what they studied in school.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the 8th<\/sup> Congregation of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), Special Guest of Honour and Managing Director (MD) of Stanbic Bank, Alhassan Adani<\/strong> advised graduates to set the right agenda as journalists to move Ghana forward.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me, quality education is that piece of education that unleashes you to do something and to galvanize community to do something; Most of us just will walk out with the degree or diploma and wait to be told what to do,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n According to him, society is enriched by what “sits in all of us\u2019\u2019 and what quality education creates or brings out. “When you get out of quality education your deeds must move to another level that advances your person and the society,\u2019\u2019 he advised the graduates.<\/p>\n Mr. Adani noted that quality education is when after school one is able to take initiatives based on the education they have received and galvanize society in that direction.<\/p>\n He further challenged the graduates not to be despondent, waiting for a job.<\/p>\n \u201cI want the graduates to remember that they have just joined the one-third privilege few in the world; it\u2019s just one-third of the world\u2019s population that gets to hold a higher degree from a tertiary institution,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n \u2018\u2019People must always wake up in a day filling that day with something worthwhile and not be despondent\u2026,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n Mr. Adani also mentioned that Stanbic Bank associates itself to the Ghana Institute of Journalism because it [GIJ] positions itself at the \u2018\u2019heart of everything that we do as a country\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n He acknowledged that journalists touch and impact the life of every Ghanaian, hence they should see the crucial role they play in the development of Ghana.<\/p>\n On his part the Rector of the school, Dr. Wilberforce Dzisah said the congregation was to award Degrees and Diploma certificates to deserving students who have met both the University and academic requirements and successfully completed their programmes study in May 2014.<\/p>\n \u201cToday we are graduating a total of Four Hundred and Sixty Four (464) students for both the Diploma and Degree programmes in Communication Studies.
