{"id":65030,"date":"2014-11-14T09:49:19","date_gmt":"2014-11-14T09:49:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=65030"},"modified":"2014-11-14T10:10:53","modified_gmt":"2014-11-14T10:10:53","slug":"burkina-faso-transitional-framework-agreed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/11\/burkina-faso-transitional-framework-agreed\/","title":{"rendered":"Burkina Faso: Transitional framework agreed on"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Burkina Faso\u2019s Military leader, Lt Col Isaac Zida has agreed on a framework for a transitional government.<\/p>\n<p>The key stakeholders unanimously agreed on the framework after talks between military, civil and political leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The transitional body which is being headed by Lt Col Zida is expected to return the country to civilian rule and prepare for elections in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;hq2WIdA0XIcZk8zb5PTzxLpBwxtJu4jC&#8221;]Following massive protests in Burkina Faso, ex-President Blaise Compaore was forced to resign\u00a0 after attempting to extend his 27-year rule by amending the constitution.<\/p>\n<p>This infuriated Burkinabes who staged a three-day protest and <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/30\/burkina-faso-protesters-storm-parliament\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>set fire to the country\u2019s Parliament<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>while legislators were in the process to amending the constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Lt Col Zida subsequently declared himself the leader of Burkina Faso on November 1.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/burkina-faso-620x330.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65033\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/burkina-faso-620x330.jpg\" alt=\"burkina-faso-620x330\" width=\"620\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/burkina-faso-620x330.jpg 620w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/burkina-faso-620x330-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a>The framework stipulates that an interim President will be chosen by a special college made up of military, political, civil, religious and traditional leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The President will then name a Prime Minister who will appoint a 25-member government.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/ebff78654295_78654294.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65034\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/ebff78654295_78654294.jpg\" alt=\"ebff78654295_78654294\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/ebff78654295_78654294.jpg 640w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/ebff78654295_78654294-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A 90-member national transitional council to serve as a legislative body will also be constituted.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC reports that Lt Col Zida, who has pledged to hand over power to a civilian authority, is expected to enact the charter within days.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Burkina Faso\u2019s Military leader, Lt Col Isaac Zida has agreed on a framework for a transitional government.
