World Vision Ghana has donated ninety five dual desk at a cost of GHC 7,600.00 to the Tongo-Beo Primary School in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.<\/p>\n
The initiative by World Vision will help the 190 school pupil who sit and study on the bare floor\u00a0 study in comfort.<\/p>\n
The intervention according to World Vision Ghana was in response to a news item about how the lack of furniture in the school was affecting teaching and learning.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”d7JfEyZ8VtKXBp9iemaWNzzdHvbo421G”]World Vision commenced operations in Ghana in 1979 and now operates in all the 10 regions of Ghana with over 30 programme areas, aimed at reducing poverty and injustice through intervention programmes \u00a0\u00a0in Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation, Education and Food security for the well-being of over 6.4 million children in Ghana.<\/p>\n
Director of operations World Vision Daniel Salifu said, the intervention, will not only reduce the health risk of pupils, but create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning to improve academic performance and also enhance pupil\u2019s self-esteem.<\/p>\n
He called on authorities of Tongo -Beo primary to maximize the utmost benefit from the desks and ensure regular maintenance for longer use.<\/p>\n
District Chief Executive for Talensi Edward Awonoore praised World Vision for helping the assembly’s efforts in addressing numerous challenges in the educational sector.<\/p>\n
Mr. Awonoore said the Talensi district, which is one of the deprive districts\u00a0 in the region, faces critical infrastructure and furniture\u00a0 problems in\u00a0 most basic schools and appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations and philanthropists \u00a0to aid the district in delivering quality education.<\/p>\n
