Mensah played 46 minutes for Nitra in their 1-2 home defeat to Slovakia league leaders, Slovan Bratislava on Monday, his first game in nearly a year and half since last playing for Rennes in Ligue 1.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nThe \u2018rock of gilbratar\u2019 is hoping to regain the form that saw him marshall Ghana\u2019s defence at two previous World Cups in anticipation of gatecrashing Coach Kwesi Appiah\u2019s 23-man team for Brazil 2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very happy to have made my comeback playing at the highest stage again. It has been a while but I am happy with my performance. I want to thank those who have been supporting me and thank God for bringing me this far,\u201d he told 90 MINUTES.<\/p>\n
The ex- general captain of the Black Stars obviously is happy at bouncing back again but admits he was a bit sluggish in the game which is understandable after almost a year out of action.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am here to help the team do its best in the league. There are a couple of games to go and hopefully, things will turn out good [for me] for both club and country. I just want to keep on doing my best and with God\u2019s guidance, I shall have the best outcome,\u201d John Mensah added.<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cI know you\u2019ve heard it a thousand times before. But it\u2019s true \u2013 hard work pays off. If you want to be good, you have to practise, practise, practise. Football is like life \u2013 it requires perseverance, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority.\u201d<\/p>\n
