{"id":58355,"date":"2014-10-21T16:28:37","date_gmt":"2014-10-21T16:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=58355"},"modified":"2014-10-21T16:34:14","modified_gmt":"2014-10-21T16:34:14","slug":"gas-supply-to-atuabo-plant-begins-in-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/gas-supply-to-atuabo-plant-begins-in-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Gas supply to Atuabo plant begins in November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana expects to start processing gas at the Atuabo gas facility for the production of power at Aboadze in the month of November 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The much anticipated commissioning of the gas plant has been <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/08\/14\/commissioning-of-atuabo-gas-plant-under-threat\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>delayed over a number of reasons,<\/strong><\/span><\/a> primarily the delay from the processing of the loan facility from the China Development Bank.<\/p>\n<p>But speaking to <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> in London, the CEO of Ghana Gas Company Ltd George Sipa Yankey said while the expectations of Ghanaians may have put pressure on the company, they are poised to start processing and delivering gas to the Aboadze Thermal Plant sometime in November.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;bMqz2YuwtcthVeOe4nzIF7dnuQ1NlVHy&#8221;]According to him the <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/03\/21\/blame-mofep-for-ghana-gas-hitches-sipa-yankey\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>financial bottlenecks which occasioned the initial delay<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in the completion of the payment have been overcome, and with Tullow oil expected to commence its Tie-in for Ghana Gas this week, all is set for the delivery of gas to Aboadze next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s not been easy because I do appreciate that we going through hard times and people are impatient and want some relief and we at Ghana gas understand the public feelings so we are also committing ourselves to really ensure that we finish on time so that the relief that is being sought by Ghanaians will be met\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sipa Yankee assured the public that the Ghana Gas Company would do all\u00a0 in its power to finish the project on time, noting that the <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/09\/gas-plant-to-cater-for-70-of-ghanas-lpg-needs\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>pressure from the public for the project to be completed<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in time\u00a0 is understandable.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the project involved the construction of a 58-km 12 inch offshore pipeline from the Jubilee field to Atuabo, and the completion of a 150 mmscfd Gas Processing Plant.<\/p>\n<p>The final stage of the 1st Phase was the construction of 111-km 20 inch pipeline from the Western region to Aboadze.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Bernard Avle\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana expects to start processing gas at the Atuabo gas facility for the production of power at Aboadze in the month of November 2014.
