An increase in the number of cholera cases in the Upper East Region has resulted in three deaths so far in the region.<\/p>\n
Ten out of the 13 districts in the region have in Bawku in the Upper East region are on the increase with three people dead so far.<\/p>\n
The region has recorded over a hundread cholera cases in 10 out of its\u00a013 districts.<\/p>\n
The rate of increase has alarmed health officials in the three regions of the North that were relatively cholera-free until a few weeks ago<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n The Deputy Public Health Director in the region, Dr. Mensah Afful, \u00a0saaid that they are doing all they can to bring the situation under control.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”yMliFICNnc2RKbfFlSWBGBRBB94jYXMY”]”We have had one hundred and twenty-seven cases and we have done damage cost. Prior to Bawku, we had quite a number of districts also havingcholera at a point in time but several of them have been contained except a couple of them in Bawku and Pusiga,” he told Citi News.<\/strong><\/p>\n “The number of [cholera cases] we have had is not as substantial as it was in the last two days when the incident began.”<\/p>\n The\u00a0Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Victor Bampoe in an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>\u00a0earlier in October revealed that the number of recorded cholera cases across the country had jumped from 10,000 to over 18,000<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, recorded in 96 districts.<\/p>\n He stated that the government was worried about the number of cholera cases and that everyone is responsible for the extent of the outbeak in the country.<\/p>\n
