{"id":571,"date":"2014-02-17T13:55:54","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T13:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/?p=571"},"modified":"2014-02-17T13:55:54","modified_gmt":"2014-02-17T13:55:54","slug":"kath-update-doctors-and-nurses-withdraw-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/02\/kath-update-doctors-and-nurses-withdraw-service\/","title":{"rendered":"KATH Update: Doctors and nurses withdraw services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/KATH.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-588\" alt=\"KATH\" src=\"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/KATH-300x156.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" \/><\/a>Doctors and nurses at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have withdrawn their services, following attacks on some of their colleagues at the hospital last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Ashantio regional correspondent, Hawa Iddrisu reported that the hospital staff have resolved not to return to work until security at the hospital is improved.<\/p>\n<p>About\u200850 young men and women last Thursday stormed the Maternity Ward (Ward A1) of KATH and assaulted nurses and doctors on duty, demanding the body of a baby believed to have been stillborn.<\/p>\n<p>But the Ashanti Regional Police command, ASP Mohammed Tanko said it has deployed more than enough police personnel to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>This is after the officials of the hospital claimed they still don\u2019t feel safe after thugs attacked them last week over alleged baby-theft case.<\/p>\n<p>According to ASP Mohammed Tanko the hospital staff have no reason to feel insecure.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the authorities at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have expressed optimism in unraveling the mystery surrounding the body of a missing baby.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the hospital, Kwame Frimpong the hospital authorities have cooperated fully with different bodies investigating the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hospital have been cooperating fully with these investigation bodies, first the Ministry of Health team was here last Tuesday and Wednesday and they spoke to every staff member who is connected in one way or the other to this incident.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that the police have also commenced investigations into the matter.
