Maxwell Ofosu Boakye and Philip Addai, Assembly members of Abusuakuruwa and Kokoso electoral areas, criticized the KMA boss, citing the continuous management of the Kejetia Lorry Terminal by the KMA as a breach of the laid down regulations and rules governing the running of the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>They said per the World Bank contract, the facility should be managed by a private company on behalf of the Assembly. The concerned assembly members who claimed in a statement that they were acting on behalf of other aggrieved members, said the unfortunate trend by which the Kojo Bonsu led-KMA was managing the facility could bring repercussions on the Assembly since the World Bank might decide not to assist the KMA for flouting the contract agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The two assembly members questioned the premises for the reduction in the proceeds of about GH\u00a23,000 daily from GH\u00a212,000 to GH\u00a29,000 in the face of the fee fixing which saw an upward adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>They also frowned on the personal involvement and alleged influence of the MCE, who has joined in the ownership of the Adehyeman land area. The accusers indicated that the KMA boss was clandestinely and unilaterally awarding and reviewing various contractual agreements without recourse to the rules and regulations of the Assembly having dissolved the Kumasi Planning Committee without the reconstituting the Metropolitan Planning Board.<\/p>\n<p>They claimed the on-going redevelopment of the play ground, opposite the Golden Tulip Kumasi City Hotel, was being executed on the blind side of the Assembly and also believed that the MCE had sold a tract of land near the KMA premises and the Precast parcel of land at Asokwa to a Korean firm and potential developers without the approval of the Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The Assembly members queried the continuous development of structures at the Subin Valley in the face of a decision by the Assembly to demolish them and accused the MCE of flouting the decisions of the Assembly with impunity.<\/p>\n<p>Credit: Chronicle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) have accused the Mayor of Kumasi, Mr. Kojo Bonsu of non-transparency and lack of accountability in the running of the Kejetia Lorry Terminal.
