{"id":56222,"date":"2014-10-14T12:25:33","date_gmt":"2014-10-14T12:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=56222"},"modified":"2014-10-14T13:36:13","modified_gmt":"2014-10-14T13:36:13","slug":"we-are-ready-for-ebola-dr-bampoe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/we-are-ready-for-ebola-dr-bampoe\/","title":{"rendered":"We are ready for Ebola \u2013 Dr Bampoe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Health Ministry has assured, that Ghana is ready on all fronts to battle the deadly Ebola disease after a new\u00a0research conducted by the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/14\/ebola-likely-to-enter-ghana-by-october-31-research\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Northeastern University in the USA<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0said Ghana tops the list of countries with the highest probability of being infected by the end of \u00a0October.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The research is similar to a previous one conducted\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/11\/ghana-14-others-at-risk-of-ebola-exposure-oxford-study\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">by the Oxford University in the United Kingdom<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> which predicted that Ghana and 14 other countries in Africa are at risk of an outbreak due to their geographical location.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;VySyMVgeYrVD3gkQTJ7Buhq03q4PFlMU&#8221;]Speaking on the <b>Citi Breakfast Show<\/b> however, Deputy Health Minister, Dr Victor Bampoe said government has put in place a number of measures to tackle any possible outbreak of the disease.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhen it comes to getting ready for incident management, the Tema treatment center is up and running, there is still some few modifications that we are continuing to do that will even make it even better,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Bampoe added that \u201cthe ten thousand PPEs [personal protective equipment] that came in; there is another ten thousand that was donated by Tullow Oil and we also got words that we could ask for 25,000 more from a certain UN organization so we are doing that quickly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further indicated that they have had a series of meetings with the World Health Organization (WHO) \u201cfirming up our training arrangement because we need to make sure that we have all the rapid response teams so that if there is a case so they can move quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAs per the instructions of the Chief of Staff and the minister of health as well, yesterday we engaged in discussions with the managing director and the team for state insurance company to make sure that the incentive that His Excellency the President talked about for health workers are put in place quickly,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile,\u00a0Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams of the Action Chapel International <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/13\/ebola-looking-for-door-to-enter-ghana-duncan-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">has declared a fast on Thursday<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> for his church members to pray for the country to prevent the possible outbreak of Ebola describing the disease as &#8220;demonic,&#8221; adding that the disease&#8217;s next target is Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ebola which has affected four countries in West Africa has killed over 4,000 people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlloteyGodwin\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @AlloteyGodwin<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Health Ministry has assured, that Ghana is ready on all fronts to battle the deadly Ebola disease after a new\u00a0research conducted by the Northeastern University in the USA\u00a0said Ghana tops the list of countries with the highest probability of being infected by the end of \u00a0October.
