{"id":56087,"date":"2014-10-13T18:59:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-13T18:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=56087"},"modified":"2014-10-13T18:59:00","modified_gmt":"2014-10-13T18:59:00","slug":"ndc-postpones-national-delegates-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/ndc-postpones-national-delegates-congress\/","title":{"rendered":"NDC postpones National Delegates Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has postponed its National Delegates Congress scheduled for October 25.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">An aggrieved member of the party, Njonolah Linus dragged the NDC and its executives to court for\u00a0allegedly overstaying their\u00a0mandated tenure of office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the aggrieved member, the alleged expired mandate rendered its directives to the various regional executives on their constituency elections, including Ashanti Region null and void.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;rwIfOeziytRCsDNMWYvXicvU8C7RsmrH&#8221;]Per the party\u2019s calendar, regional elections would be completed before the national congress.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy General Secretary, George Lawson told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0that the legal battle leaves the party with no options but reschedule the National Delegates Congress since an injunction had been placed on the Asahnti regional elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have even have the regional consensus so we will not go to Congress.We are in Court, once we finish then we schedule a new date. Our election timetable has been affected by the Court action,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBear in mind that the Preparation towards a congress is not a week, or two, it takes a month or more to to prepare towards congress.Where over 3,000 or 4,000 people congregate we cannot use one day or a week or two we need ample time to do that so we are waiting on what the Court will say and then we will reschedule our timetable with regards to the election,\u201dhe explained.<\/p>\n<p>He said the party will therefore wait for the determination of the case in court before it will go ahead with its national congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a party that believes in rule of law, respects the Judiciuary, we are waiting for the determination of the case in Court.
