{"id":55859,"date":"2014-10-13T07:48:47","date_gmt":"2014-10-13T07:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=55859"},"modified":"2014-10-13T09:35:19","modified_gmt":"2014-10-13T09:35:19","slug":"mahama-begs-eu-to-release-funds-to-ghana-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/mahama-begs-eu-to-release-funds-to-ghana-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama begs EU to release funds to Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President John Dramani Mahama has appealed to the European Union (EU) to resume the disbursement of multi-donor budget support to Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>He made the appeal when the new head of EU delegation William Hanna, presented his letter of credence to him at the Flagstaff House.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, Ghana received close to 16 million Euros from the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>This included a 10 million Euro Sector Budget Support for the Ministry of Health and over five Million Euros for General Budget Support under Ghana&#8217;s Multi-Donor Budget Support framework.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;HlxEKR30jbOB9rGfwNX2xbVXWcttz1Es&#8221;]But the EU for some time now has held on to the funds to Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear yet why the EU is holding on to the funds but President Mahama said he is optimistic the challenges that led to the freeze would be addressed soon.<\/p>\n<p>President John Mahama said: \u201cRecently, multi donor partner support has been withheld from Ghana due to some issues.\u00a0It is my expectation that as we go along, whatever difficulties exist, we will be able to iron out in order that we see a resumption of this budget support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Ghana needed the support because the &#8220;EU is a significant international development partner especially when it comes to issues with multi donor partner budget support.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Dramani Mahama has appealed to the European Union (EU) to resume the disbursement of multi-donor budget support to Ghana.
