The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Ghana has allayed fears that the country is nearing collapse as a result of the deadly Ebola epidemic.<\/p>\n
According the the Embassy, the epidemic “is under control” in the country.<\/p>\n
The Liberian Ambassador to the United States, Jeremiah Sulunteh in an earlier interview with the media, said Liberia was\u00a0\u201cclose to collapse<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u201d<\/strong> as a result of the devastating Ebola outbreak.<\/p>\n So for over 3,000 affected persons have been killed.<\/p>\n But the Charge D’Affairs of the Embassy of the republic of Liberia in Ghana, Musu \u00a0Ruhle in an interview with Citi News<\/strong> refutted the claims.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”TQqxwGxBGbjnEoUXp8wllwGVbIidqfoi”]She indicated that the situation has greatly improved, \u201cThere are patients leaving the hospitals now who have been treated and are going home and we have empty beds. Before, two three months ago, there were no beds, but now there are empty beds,\u201d she indicated.<\/p>\n She added that personnel of the ambulance service in the country \u201care saying that they do have enough time to relax and even make fun. So that is a good sign that the awareness is sinking in and things are getting better.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that health-care officials would need close to six months to tackle the Ebola outbreak<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the worsely affected countries – Liberia, Guinea and\u00a0Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n Follows the unanimous adoption of UN has set up the\u00a0UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) in Accra to provide the operational framework and leadership to ensure the rapid, effective and coherent action necessary to stop the Ebola outbreak.<\/p>\n UNMEER will have its headquarters in Accra with offices in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n
