Nana Akufo-Addo’s camp has described Alan Kyeremanten’s bicycle-campaign promises to New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates as “an exercise in futility.”

Boakye Agyarko, the campaign coordinator for Nana Akufo-Addo was certain that delegates will not be swayed by the promises on October 18.

Kyeremanten who is contesting the flagbearership position of the party on Wednesday promised to reward party delegates in the Volta Region with bicycles, money, phones, motorcycles and other goodies if he is voted to lead the party.

[contextly_sidebar id=”jFKrpu5T1iyG9MFRIYQEKVDNo1mxoojR”]He said: “This time, if you make Alan your flagbearer, I will ensure that every executive, from polling station to coordinator to constituency will have the means of transport either bicycle or motorbike.

“Your bicycle will be registered in your personal name so that even when you are not an executive you can take it home as your reward for working for the party.”

Bug on Eyewitness News on Thursday, Boakye Agyarko accused him of indulging in vote buying.

He clarified that it is normal practice for delegates to be given money for transportation when invited to functions and stated on record that “we will always give people their transportation back and forth; nothing more, nothing less.”

Agyarko however ridiculed Kyeremanten saying, “he accused us of vote buying because we are offering delegates transport fares, now he is promising heaven and earth.”

“Promises, promises, wait and see but I don’t believe that it is going to be effective.”

According to him, the party delegates have already made up their minds on who the leader is going to be adding that “people in this party cannot be bought. If they could be bought, they would have been bought in 2007, 2010 and they will not be bought in 2014.”

Nana Addo’s campaign coordinator mentioned that his boss will not contest the issue in court because the party delegates will “pass their judgement on Saturday, October 18.”

He served notice to the camp of Kyeremanten that they are focused on making sure that Nana Akufo-Addo wins on October the October 18.
