{"id":54314,"date":"2014-10-06T07:08:37","date_gmt":"2014-10-06T07:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=54314"},"modified":"2014-10-07T16:18:27","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T16:18:27","slug":"nss-board-chair-must-be-sacked-ufp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/nss-board-chair-must-be-sacked-ufp\/","title":{"rendered":"NSS Board chair must be sacked &#8211; UFP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The founder and leader of the United Front Party (UFP), Nana Agyenim Boateng, has called for an immediate dissolution of the National Service Scheme (NSS), governing board.<\/p>\n<p>He is also demanding the arrest of the Chairperson of the Governing Board, Mrs.\u00a0Gifty\u00a0Mahama Biyira<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Chairperson of the Board, Mrs.\u00a0Gifty\u00a0Mahama Biyira should have been picked up by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for failing to properly supervise the operations of the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;3xfGKbebyDnHzyiNWx6khAVDFA1Uy3UB&#8221;]\u201c\u2026President Mahama must dissolve the National Service Board and not engage in any family affair because of Gifty Mahama,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Boateng was convinced the board chair cannot absolve herself from the corruption scandal insisting that, \u201cshe cannot say she does not know as far as the rot at the NSS is concerned, because of her role in the steady progression of people like Alhaji Alhassan Imoro.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, the Governing board of the NSS directed all implicated directors to step aside, in order to pave way for an ongoing investigation by the BNI.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/graphic.com.gh\/news\/general-news\/31514-rot-at-national-service-scheme-about-gh-7-9m-paid-to-ghost-personnel-in-a-month.html&amp;sa=U&amp;ei=pYwzVIavK4OY7gaD2IDoBA&amp;ved=0CAwQFjAD&amp;client=internal-uds-cse&amp;usg=AFQjCNFFUM5wWmuVu5CIcz4IFbTSBlYB3g\" target=\"_blank\">An amount of GHC 7.9 million was lost to the state in July 2014<\/a>\u00a0following the payment allowances of 22, 612 non-existing service persons.<\/p>\n<p>27 district directors of the NSS were picked up by the BNI in connection with the\u00a0scandal.<\/p>\n<p>A BNI report stated that \u201cannually, about GH\u00a294,970,400 in undeserved allowances is lost to the state.
