{"id":54162,"date":"2014-10-07T08:36:52","date_gmt":"2014-10-07T08:36:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=54162"},"modified":"2014-10-07T08:36:52","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T08:36:52","slug":"nr-records-low-maternal-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/nr-records-low-maternal-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"N\/R records low maternal cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1412657935841_7376\">There has been significant drop in maternal and neonatal cases in the Northern Region for the year 2014.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1412657935841_7383\">According to the Deputy Director of Public Health of the Northern Regional Health Directorate, Dr. Jacob Mahama\u00a036 maternal deaths were recorded from January to June, 2014, down from the 130 cases recorded within the same period in 2013.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1412657935841_7473\">29 neonatal cases were also recorded within the same period.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Bll98o0gkmLnmhuhGDZcwMx5TVwRlD0P&#8221;]He attributed these successes to the establishment of neonatal intensive care units in some major health facilities in the region.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1412657935841_7482\">He said the Regional Health Directorate has for the past five years engaged the services of about 139 trained community volunteers to provide first aid services to rural folks.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jacob Mahama extolled the United Nations International Children\u2019s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) for its continual support to boost quality health care service delivery in the region.<\/p>\n<p>He admitted that UNICEF\u2019s contribution to promoting child health care in the region could not be underestimated.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jacob Mahama called for deeper collaboration between the Regional Health Directorate and other major stakeholders in the health sector to completely eliminate maternal and neonatal cases.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1412657935841_7478\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There has been significant drop in maternal and neonatal cases in the Northern Region for the year 2014.
