{"id":54121,"date":"2014-10-07T07:08:29","date_gmt":"2014-10-07T07:08:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=54121"},"modified":"2014-10-07T07:08:29","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T07:08:29","slug":"investigate-all-state-institutions-papa-ankomah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/investigate-all-state-institutions-papa-ankomah\/","title":{"rendered":"Investigate all state institutions \u2013 Papa Ankomah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Attorney General, Papa Owusu Ankomah has asked government to investigate all state institutions to unravel fraudulent deals.<\/p>\n<p>His call comes on the heels of the massive fraud uncovered at the National Service Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Director of the NSS,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/03\/nss-boss-indicted-officials-ordered-to-go-home-2\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>Alhaji Alhassan Imoro and 23 others<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0have been ordered to step aside after investigations revealed they had embezzled GHC 7.9 million through the payment of allowances to about 20,000 non-existent service personnel.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;cgjtM1FO8SGdZl5MWHyfZhq5BHQxl57u&#8221;]Various <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/07\/dissolve-nss-board-now-fgj-urges-mahama\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">groups<\/span> <\/a><\/strong>and individuals have since called on the President to also dissolve the NSS board since they have oversight responsibility over the because they believe it knew about fraudulent deals at the Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>He is convinced the rot at the Secretariat is being replicated in other ministries, departments and agencies across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Sekondi legislator was hopeful broadening the investigations into the other state departments will help the nation rid itself of corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith what is being uncovered, It is important that government itself carries out an investiogation into almost all the Ministeries, departments and agencies.It is important that thorough investigations are undertaken on the payroll,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<p>The Member of Parliament for North-Dayi, George Loh also welcomed the call from his colleague from Sekondi.<\/p>\n<p>The member of Parliaments\u2019 Public Accounts Committee believes there is the need to tackle corruption head on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat has happened at the National Service is surprising to all of us.
