Apple’s love affair with gold is about to extend to the iPad, as the company is planning to introduce the color as a new option in an effort to boost lagging tablet sales.<\/p>\n
Gold-colored backings for 9.7-inch iPads are set to be released sometime in October, according to\u00a0Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”L65SuNF0ZgqtPMVsemXr0rMTQFtKRAsU”]A gold iPad would join other products that have sported the metal (or at least the color), including the iPhone 5S and\u00a0the new Apple Watch<\/a>, which will be available in actual 18-karat gold.<\/p>\n For an idea of what a gold iPad might look like,\u00a0Stuart Hughes<\/a>, a luxury gadget designer, made a solid gold and diamond-encrusted iPad back in 2010.<\/p>\n Apple has struggled to sustain iPad sales, which have\u00a0fallen in recent quarters<\/a>, and declined in year-over-year comparisons.<\/p>\n
