{"id":53168,"date":"2014-10-03T07:00:10","date_gmt":"2014-10-03T07:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=53168"},"modified":"2014-10-03T07:07:12","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T07:07:12","slug":"nagrat-demands-immediate-payment-of-withheld-september-salaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/nagrat-demands-immediate-payment-of-withheld-september-salaries\/","title":{"rendered":"NAGRAT demands immediate payment of withheld September salaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is demanding the payment of the September salaries of some teachers which have been withheld by the government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the Association, the situation has not only brought untold hardship on the affected teachers, but also, it is hindering their ability to work effectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A press release signed by Callistus Sung-Yare, the Publicity and Organizing Secretary of NAGRAT said the Ministry of Finance had placed an embargo on the September salaries of some teachers who were recruited in 2011.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Wm6MvSsKmw7KFLhWeRKUcu1aj7DSjGwK&#8221;]The statement claimed that the government initiated the move to reduce the public wage bill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis measure has been instituted without taking cognizance of the fact that these teachers have been legally employed and have been working for a number of years,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">NAGRAT thus served notice that is becoming increasingly uncomfortable &#8220;with the overwhelming positions which the Ministry of Finance has amxates to itself interfering directly in the running of Education Service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe implication of this policy is that there is a grand plan to continue to use the services of these teachers without any commitment to paying their salaries,\u201d it alleged.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Association promised the affected teachers that it is aware of their disquiet and will do anything within its power to ensure that their rights are protected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is demanding the payment of the September salaries of some teachers which have been withheld by the government.
