"Nigeria-football"Nigeria are planning to spend over $11 million for their fifth World Cup campaign this year.

The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed this in his defense to the legislative house committee of the country’s parliament.

“We expect that one point two billion Naira will come from government, while the football house will source the balance of the money to ensure a smooth outing for the Super Eagles at Brazil 2014,” said Musa Amadu.

The NFF is planning to provide part of that amount, as will the federal government, while the balance will come from sponsorships and fund raising events.

The budget covers the teams’ preparations as well as the players’ bonuses and allowances of the team.

The Super Eagles open their campaign against Iran on June 16, before games against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Argentina.

Last week, President Goodluck Jonathan sacked Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi. No reason was given for the sack and a new man, Dan Agogo, was sworn in alongside other new ministers in a cabinet reshuffle.
