{"id":52704,"date":"2014-10-01T11:26:47","date_gmt":"2014-10-01T11:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=52704"},"modified":"2014-10-01T11:26:47","modified_gmt":"2014-10-01T11:26:47","slug":"npa-maintains-prices-of-petroleum-products-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/10\/npa-maintains-prices-of-petroleum-products-2\/","title":{"rendered":"NPA maintains prices of petroleum products"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Users of Petroleum products have again been spared of an increase in the prices of fuel.<\/p>\n<p>The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in its latest review of the prices of petroleum products maintained the last rates.<\/p>\n<p>The review takes effect from today.<\/p>\n<p>Petrol is still going for 3cedi 36pesewas per litre, diesel 3 cedis 27 pesewas, kerosene 3 cedis 23 pesewas, premix 1 cedi 57 pesewas while liquefied petroleum gas is at 3cedis 32 pesewas per kilogram.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the prices changed was on July 14 when prices went up.<\/p>\n<p>However subsidies on petroleum products are likely to be cut soon.<\/p>\n<p>This follows talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the implementation of a program to help solve the country&#8217;s current challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF has asserted that government must cut costly and untargeted subsidies on petroleum products among others as part of moves to save the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Government between May and June this year spent about 175million cedis on price subsidies alone.<\/p>\n<p>Government has also announced it will from September 1, 2014 introduce quarterly hedging as a measure to avoid huge debts accumulating from the subsidizing\u00a0price differentials on petroleum products.<\/p>\n<p>The move is also expected to protect Ghanaians from a price hike during reviews of the prices of petroleum products.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By:\u00a0 Vivian Kai Mensah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Users of Petroleum products have again been spared of an increase in the prices of fuel.
