{"id":52496,"date":"2014-09-30T16:57:19","date_gmt":"2014-09-30T16:57:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=52496"},"modified":"2014-09-30T16:57:19","modified_gmt":"2014-09-30T16:57:19","slug":"aflao-chieftaincy-dispute-torgbui-afla-granted-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/09\/aflao-chieftaincy-dispute-torgbui-afla-granted-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"Aflao chieftaincy dispute: Torgbui Afla granted bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A claimant to the Aflao paramount stool, Torgbui Afla Detu, has been granted bail by a Ho high court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The court, presided over by Justice Patick Baayeh, granted Torgbui Afla bail at a cost of GHC30,000 with two sureties; and one needs to be justified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;r45Lk2ED2fXj1pNYq8feSFfO4kplxeHE&#8221;]In addition he is expected to sign a bond, promising that he will not perform any public ceremony in Aflao and its environs for the next three months, and if there is any breach, he would be imprisoned for 90 days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Torgbui Afla Detu\u00a0was arrested when\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/24\/tension-brews-in-aflao-over-new-chief\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">some of his family members attempted to outdoor him<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0as the paramount chief of the area to replace\u00a0Torgbui Amenya Fiti.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0He was later\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/26\/aflao-chief-remanded-into-police-custody\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">arrested and put before the Ho High court<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and charged for offensive conduct, and organizing a public event without recourse to the public order act.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">The action also infuriated the <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/25\/aflao-chieftaincy-dispute-youth-demonstrate-against-police-pictures\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>youth of the area who demonstrated<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"> on the streets, erected road blocks and burnt tyres to show their anger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/youth_aflao_angry.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51131\" alt=\"youth_aflao_angry\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/youth_aflao_angry.jpg\" width=\"587\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/youth_aflao_angry.jpg 587w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/youth_aflao_angry-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 587px) 100vw, 587px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Patrick Baayeh has however called on security agencies especially the police to be on top of their job to ensure peace and security in the Aflao municipality.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411984468908_101892\">The Paramount chief of Aflao Traditional area Togbui Amenya Fiti V has <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/30\/aflao-chieftaincy-dispute-paramount-chief-wants-govt-intervention\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>appealed to government and appropriate bodies to intervene<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411984468908_101896\">Togbui Fiti who emphatically denied being part of the Anlo Traditional Council said he owes no allegiance to the council backing his stance on a section of the chieftaincy act that allows paramount chiefs to be autonomous.<\/p>\n<p>He also accused the Anlo traditional area of employing a divide and rule tactics to destroy the peace his traditional area is currently enjoying.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: King Norbert Akpablie\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A claimant to the Aflao paramount stool, Torgbui Afla Detu, has been granted bail by a Ho high court.
