Consumers must brace themselves to pay more for electricity from Wednesday, October 1, 2014.<\/p>\n

This follows an increment in the electricity tariff by about 6.54 percent for the last quarter of 2014.<\/p>\n

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) in a statement signed by its chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Annan stated that the increment was made after careful consideration of all factors which forms the basis of the Automatic Adjustment Formula.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”Miw1FWGCmpUVAxb9spPWAT5IJdl07EIX”]It added that during deliberations, it considered the inadequate supply of electricity which has resulted in a load shedding exercise and its impact on consumers.<\/p>\n

The Commission has also increased water tariff by 4.54 percent but added that it will not be passed on to the consumer because of poor quality service delivery by the Ghana Water company.<\/p>\n

The PURC advised Ghanaians to conserve energy and water to reduce the challenges being faced with the reliable supply of these two essential commodities.<\/p>\n
