{"id":51934,"date":"2014-09-29T07:41:50","date_gmt":"2014-09-29T07:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=51934"},"modified":"2014-09-29T09:24:43","modified_gmt":"2014-09-29T09:24:43","slug":"ndc-hopeful-of-settling-case-out-of-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/09\/ndc-hopeful-of-settling-case-out-of-court\/","title":{"rendered":"NDC hopeful of settling case out of court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lawyer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Victor Adawudu, has expressed optimism of settling the lawsuit brought against the party by a member in the Ashanti region out of court.<\/p>\n<p>A former president of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network\u00a0(TEIN) of the NDC at the Akrokerri School of Education, Linus Njonola, has secured a court injunction thus halting the party\u2019s October congress.<\/p>\n<p>He sued the NDC for violating its constitution by keeping executives whose tenure had expired at post.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;RfmAFziXZ4iqyjkuQ8zTJyUhxaZJvMLQ&#8221;]But Victor Adawudu in an interview with <strong>Citi New<\/strong>s said the party is confident of settling the issue before the next hearing.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the party is seeking an out of court settlement because \u201cwe are all members of the NDC family and we have extended the olive branch because if you are not clear about something, let\u2019s have that matter settled between us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adawudu mentioned that the plaintiff and his lawyer have been contacted \u201cbut if reason does not prevail, then that means we would have to fight it on the legal battle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He however indicated that his outfit will keep pushing for an out of court settlement \u201cbut we are amenable to see how we can sort this matter out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The party is scheduled to organize its national congress on October 24 to elect national executives.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/04\/ndc-afadzato-south-constituency-elections-held\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Similar court injunctions<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0have prevented the NDC constituency elections in other regions especially in\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/08\/court-restrains-ndc-two-affiliates-from-holding-constituency-elections-2\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Greater Accra<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The party\u2019s General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia has however directed party executives in the various regions to ensure that all such grievances are resolved as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lawyer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Victor Adawudu, has expressed optimism of settling the lawsuit brought against the party by a member in the Ashanti region out of court.
