The Head of the Finance Department at the University of Ghana Business School, Dr. Godfred Bokpin\u00a0has said Ghanaians\u2019 confidence in the economy is\u00a0wounded due to President Mahama\u2019s inability to fulfill the Better Ghana Agenda policy he promised ahead of the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe confidence in the economy is wounded and trust in the government is impaired but we can only keep hope alive… since we don\u2019t have the better Ghana right now, we can only hope for it,” he said.<\/p>\n
Government \u00a0has come under criticism for the rising budget deficit and other economic challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Citi FM\u2019s News analysis programme,\u00a0The Big Issue<\/strong>, Dr. Bokpin indentified other challenges , saying, \u201cGhana after so many years of independence has been unsuccessful in undertaking a simple exercise of eliminating ghost names from the public payroll”<\/p>\n He said Ghanaians can only hope that the poor economic status of the country will improve.<\/p>\n Several people including the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo Addo have\u00a0criticised President Mahama<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> for his inability to improve the lives of the citizenry as he[Mahama] promised.<\/p>\n
