An aspiring National Women’s Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Mariam Sinare has described as unfair, criticism against President John Mahama over the low water levels in the Akosombo dam which has contributed to the on-gong power crisis in the country.

She said the President should not be blamed for the sporadic power cuts in homes and offices.

Hajia Sinare argued that it is only God that can produce rain for the Akosombo dam and not the President Mahama or the NDC government, insisting that the ruling government is trying hard to make Ghanaians comfortable.

“The NDC government and John Mahama are trying their best. But look at Akosombo, we are not to put water in there; the water is supposed to come from God. So that is our prayer now, for God to bring down his water down for us so that the people of Ghana will be happy,” she said.

The low water levels in the Akosombo dam is also contributing to the ongoing power rationing compelling the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to release a load shedding time table to assist the general public to plan their daily activities accordingly.

Speaking on the Point Blank segment on Eye Witness News on Friday, Hajia Mariam Sinare insisted that President Mahama has done a lot to improve Ghana’s energy needs compared to previous governments.

She said: “Some villages that have not seen light before in years back, have seen light under the NDC government.”

Hajia Sinare who is vying to be the Women’s Organizer for the NDC is contesting with two other contenders; Margret Tsravra and Hajia Zinabu.

Hajia Sinare is however resilient and confident of winning the position saying “I don’t see them [other two] as strong contenders.”
