The Vice President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), Samuel Atta Mensah, has described as “uncalled for,”\u00a0attacks on Daily Graphic reporter, Daniel Kenu after he withdrew an assault case against Baffour Gyan.<\/p>\n
Daniel Kenu has been vilified for withdrawing the case<\/strong><\/span><\/a> his Managing Director, Kenneth Ashigbey<\/strong><\/span><\/a> had sworn to pursue until justice was served.<\/p>\n Last month, he was physically assaulted by some heavily built men allegedly on the orders of Baffour Gyan, after he questioned the captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan about the disappearance of hiplife artiste, Castro.<\/p>\n Although the Gyans have issued a public apology to Kenu and the media<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) is demanding the payment of a compensation<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to Kenu.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”ErIzzD0IvK5kYVVGjWhZ2Fyhoo3R9goS”]Speaking on Metro TV\u2019s<\/em> Good Evening Ghan<\/em>a programme on Thursday, Samuel Atta Mensah who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Citi FM<\/strong> said the Graphic reporter took a decision on his own will and should not be vilified for that.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI don\u2019t think it has much to do with selling of conscience. He took a decision, a responsible decision and he took a lot of things into consideration and he came to a conclusion that he did not want to pursue the case.\u201d<\/p>\n Atta Mensah acknowledged that people have the right to disagree with him \u201cbut extending it to say that he sold his conscience; I disagree with that. It has nothing to do with selling conscience.\u201d<\/p>\n He pointed out that whatever exchanges may have taken place for Kenu to withdraw the case is not known to the public therefore, the speculations must end.<\/p>\n \u201cWhether it was cash as people are alleging or whatever it was, he had to come to a point in his life where he had to take a decision which he did and his life goes on from there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s easy for people to run commentary but it doesn\u2019t make it what people are saying,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
