{"id":51016,"date":"2014-09-25T17:20:07","date_gmt":"2014-09-25T17:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=51016"},"modified":"2014-09-25T17:20:07","modified_gmt":"2014-09-25T17:20:07","slug":"police-intervene-in-aflao-chieftancy-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/09\/police-intervene-in-aflao-chieftancy-dispute\/","title":{"rendered":"Police intervene in Aflao chieftancy dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Volta Regionional Police Command has invited a claimant in the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/regional.citifmonline.com\/2014\/09\/25\/tension-brews-in-aflao-over-new-chief\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Aflao chieftaincy dispute<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Togbui Awunor Detu Afla for questioning over attempts to outdoor him as the new divisional chief of the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was reported on Wednesday that tension was building up in the area following reports of attempts to outdoor a new divisional chief for Aflao, Togbui \u00a0Afla,\u00a0while the old chief, Amenya Adzonugaga\u00a0Fiti V \u00a0is threatening mayhem and insisting that he remains the overlord of the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;S116s2igPhOJWQxxOzrQdl9dL3PuESHQ&#8221;]Speaking to <b>Citi news,<\/b> spokesperson for Togbui Awunor Detu Afla, Togbui Boni said the invitation by the police is to allow them tell their side of the story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI learnt the regional commander wants to know what exactly is happening, because he has been listening to Fiti\u2019s side. He [police commander] has not seen him [Torgbui Afla], he does not know what his side is so I think that is the situation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Togbui Boni indicated that Torgbui Afla only sought to visit Aflao, which is his hometown but Torgbui Fiti and the police in the area, are preventing him from doing that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He argued that\u00a0\u201cas a Ghanaian, everybody is free to stay in his hometown, and the constitution does not permit anybody to be exiled in his own country, so I don\u2019t think anything will happen apart from listening to his side.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Spokesperson for Torgbui Fiti, Petit Haliga speaking on the <strong>Eye Witness News<\/strong> on Wednesday said: \u201cTorgbui Fiti is not issuing any threats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Haliga, Torgbui Fiti is only saying that, \u201cthere shouldn&#8217;t be any chief that should be smuggled into his traditional area without his knowledge, that&#8217;s all Torgbui Fiti is saying.
