The Western Region Police Command say they have not made much progress with the case of the 21 year old referee who died on Friday after being beaten at a football match.

The late Kyei Andoh, a referee in the lower leagues, was allegedly assaulted by fans of Gold Stars FC in the Western Region a week ago after awarding a late penalty to the opposing Naajoe United team.

The referee sustained injuries but failed to report at a medical facility and as a result, reports say he collapsed last Friday and died a few hours later.

But the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olivia Ewurama Adiku says they only heard of the case this morning.

Meanwhile, the brother of the late referee, Kofi, told Citi Sports last night that there was no doctor on duty at the health facility they visited, which hastened the death.

The Referees Association of Ghana have also ordered their members from officiating Division 2 games until further notice.
