The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has asked the media to ignore calls to boycott a planned press conference to be addressed by the family of\u00a0<\/strong>Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan.<\/p>\n The Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group, Ken Ashigtbey, whose reporter, Daniel Kenu was assaulted by Baffuor Gyan, in a facebook post, called on reporters to boycott the press conference.<\/p>\n Ken Ashigbe said that it would be a \u201csin against all who have died in the cause of duty and all who are still being assaulted.\u201d<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”8rAgSCh2aDoXrdRksBUYRTZ2fHrCzVCR”]But speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the General Secretary of the GJA, David Agbenu said the media has to give a fair hearing to the Gyans.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need to step back again and try to reason out why it is necessary for Ghanaians to listen to Asmoah Gyan calls.We understand all the difficulties and the pains that journalists are going through about all this issue but they have not spoken to anyone about all these things. It will be in our own interest and the interest of Ghanains to listen to them speak for the fisrt time and then we can make a decision,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n The press briefing which is scheduled to take place today is expected to address questions on the disappearance of Hiplife artiste, Theophilus Tagoe, popularly known as Castro<\/p>\n The family is also expected to make a statement on Baffour Gyan\u2019s assault case against Graphic\u2019s reporter, Daniel Kenu.<\/p>\n Daniel Kenu was allegedly assaulted by former Black Stars striker, Baffour Gyan, a day before the team played its opening\u00a02015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
