The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has unveiled a Mausoleum at Weta in the Volta Region to commemorate the first anniversary of the demise of one of Ghana\u2019s astute writers, Prof Kofi Awoonor.<\/p>\n
The Mausoleum, according to Doe Adjaho, was part of initiatives being taken by the family of the late Professor to keep his beliefs and ideologies alive in order to inspire the current and future generations.<\/p>\n
One of his children, Sika Awoonor told Citi News,\u00a0<\/strong>the Mausoleum forms part a future plan of converting their father\u2019s residence in Weta into an Art Centre where writers across the world could move away from the buzzing cities to have retreats.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n An educational endowment fund was also instituted for the traditional area where beneficiary needy but brilliant students will be sponsored throughout their education.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”R90ohoO9ut58a4Aa7r0AcQK7gj7recmy”]It has been a year since four gunmen stormed the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, killing 67 people and leaving the capital unsettled for days as militants battled with security personnel.<\/p>\n Awoonor, a former chairman of the Council of State was among the 67 individuals who met their untimely death during the incident.<\/p>\n
