{"id":49873,"date":"2014-09-21T18:26:56","date_gmt":"2014-09-21T18:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=49873"},"modified":"2014-09-21T18:27:30","modified_gmt":"2014-09-21T18:27:30","slug":"mahama-arrives-in-us-for-69th-un-general-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/09\/mahama-arrives-in-us-for-69th-un-general-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama arrives in US for 69th UN General Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President John Dramani Mahama arrived in New York on Saturday with his wife, Lordina Mahama, to attend the 69th United Nations General Assembly session.<\/p>\n<p>He is expected to joined his colleagues in the general Assembly deliberations, hold bilateral talks with other leaders and make a case for investment in Ghana and the West African Sub-region as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116951397_eb839694ce_k.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49880\" alt=\"15116951397_eb839694ce_k\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116951397_eb839694ce_k.jpg\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1905\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116951397_eb839694ce_k.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116951397_eb839694ce_k-300x279.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116951397_eb839694ce_k-1024x952.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/a>The theme of the 69th General Assembly Session is: &#8220;Delivering on and implementing a Transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The President was met on arrival by Ambassador Ken Kanda, Ghana&#8217;s Permanent Representative to the UN, Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister, Mr Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, a Deputy Minister of Communications, and Dr Kpessah Whyte, a presidential staffer with others.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama is also expected to deliver some lectures at the Harvard University on &#8220;Economic Governance in Unchartered Waters&#8221; on September 26, and on September 27 give another lecture at the Brandeis University on &#8220;The Promise of Africa&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116739519_d963c97db7_k.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49878\" alt=\"15116739519_d963c97db7_k\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116739519_d963c97db7_k.jpg\" width=\"1444\" height=\"2048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116739519_d963c97db7_k.jpg 1444w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116739519_d963c97db7_k-211x300.jpg 211w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116739519_d963c97db7_k-722x1024.jpg 722w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1444px) 100vw, 1444px\" \/><\/a>President Mahama would also state his position on the embargo on Cuba and co-host a programme with the Swiss President on the theme: &#8220;Shaping the Future- Ending AIDS by 2030.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He would also attend a programme with President Barrack Obama and Ban Ki Moon on the United Nations Climate Change Policy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116921548_8aa23547ce_k.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49879\" alt=\"15116921548_8aa23547ce_k\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116921548_8aa23547ce_k.jpg\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116921548_8aa23547ce_k.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116921548_8aa23547ce_k-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/15116921548_8aa23547ce_k-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/a>The President then make a case on the plight of Ebola patients in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra and seek remedial measures that would stem the spread of the viral disease in the Sub-region.<\/p>\n<p>He is also expected to host and chair a meeting on Energy Efficiency before travelling to the United Arab Emirates to attend &#8220;Africa Global Forum\u201d in Dubai, on October 1.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama would return to Ghana in the first week of October.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Dramani Mahama arrived in New York on Saturday with his wife, Lordina Mahama, to attend the 69th United Nations General Assembly session.
